JCS student and rising swim star Lucy Moroney competed as part of the JCS team at last weeks Secondary School Zone Carnival held in Narooma and finished first in all but one of the events she entered and achieved Age Champion.
This was a fantastic achievement for Lucy and will set her up well as she heads to the Regionals to be held in Dapto this term and hopefully onto State. In 2019 Lucy competed for JCS at the State Championships and performed well to come away achieving the best regional times in her events and became Eurobodalla Age Champion.
It’s time to shine the light on Lucy who is humble about her achievements however at 13 years old she has already gained some amazing results in the many competitions throughout the South Coast region and statewide.
Since the start of 2020 Lucy has attended 4 events including the 2020 NSW Country Regionals - AIS Canberra, on the Australia Day where she swam in 6 events and achieved 4 personal bests. She then swam at the Australian Speedo Sprints in Wollongong on 1 Feb and has been selected to represent SESA (South Eastern Swimming Association) at the Australian Speedo Sprint Finals at SOPAC(Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre) on the Feb 29.
Following the Sprints event she entered 5 great events at the 2020 SESA (South Eastern) Summer Long Course Area Championships 1 & 2 Feb.
Lucy loves attending carnivals and competitions all over the south coast on most weekends and is always excited to swim at big carnivals. She has a special attraction to be in the same pool as her idols of the Australian team when she swims at Canberra’s AIS or at the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre.
Lucy has spent most of her life in the water, either in the pool at home, in the lake where she wakeboards and waterskis or at swimming lessons. At 4 she joined the Jindabyne Swim Club.
She has been training with 3 x Olympic Medallist Graham Windeatt for 2 1/2 years now and averages about 10 Sessions a week.
She loves representing Jindabyne, proudly wearing her team shirt and answering lots of questions about the Snowy Mountains as everyone is always intrigued. She also loves the feeling of being fit and is currently learning about healthy lifestyles, eating and nutrition and mindfulness.
