Stage One Sport
by students Max, Phoebe and Echo
Stage 1 have begun their sports program this term with lots of fun activities. We hold two sessions per week. One is sports and games and the other focuses on fundamental movement skills like balancing and skipping. Max, Phoebe and Echo from 2D are going to tell you more about our sessions.
"On Tuesday we do sports and games like tag, land-water-bridge, poison ball and musical statues. These games help us to develop strength, speed and coordination. Max’s favourite activity was land-water-bridge because you have to be careful about which side of the line you jump onto.
On Thursday we do gross motor activities like scooter boards for core strength and we practice balancing bean bags on our heads and by walking on stilts. We also learnt how to do skipping through hoops, around markers and with skipping ropes. Phoebe’s favourite activity is stilts because it is a slow activity and you don’t have to race. Echo is looking forward to using the scooter boards again because they are fun!
