Work Experience

Work Experience is a great way for students to investigate and experience different careers. Year 10 are encouraged to undertake one week work experience during Term 4  after they have completed their Year 10 studies. Students for Year 9, 11 & 12 can also undertake work experience once they have sought approval from the Careers Adviser and the Principal.

Students are responsible for organising their own work experience and can speak to the Careers Adviser for a list of possible host employers. Once a host employer has been found, students must then get all the appropriate paperwork filled out. Once this paperwork has been completed the student be allowed to undertake the work experience placement.

Students are encouraged to think outside the square when it comes to work experience and it is asked that parents both discuss possible placements and encourage/support their child before and during the experience.

Parents and students can use the links below to access further information regarding work experience or can ring the school to speak to Ms Rayna Green.

Parent & Carer Guide An informative guide for parents and carers regarding workplace learning for students.
Employer Guide A guide to hosting students undertaking workplace learning programs from NSW public schools and TAFE NSW Institutes.
Student Placement Record  This form must be completed by the student, parent/carer, employer and Careers Adviser before work experience can be undertaken. This document covers the student for insurance purposes.

Additional forms will need to be completed for Interstate placements, accommodation away from home and vehicle travel with the host employer. Please contact the Career Adviser for these additional forms or download them here.

Some activities are prohibited while on work experience or need special consideration. For a detailed list of activities students can't participate in, please read the Prohibited workplace activities document below.
