Mac Livissianos inspires fellow students as he heads off to Junior World Championships

Mac at NORAM

From represeting JCS to representing Australia, hardwork and dedication has paid off for Year 12 student, Mac Livssianos, who has been selected for the Australian Team to compete at the upcoming 2023 FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships.

Mac has recently returned from North America, where he spent two months training and competing in his chosen sport of Freestyle Moguls. Mac was based in Winter Park, Colorado, where he trained with team mates and his coach, ex JCS student, Ethan Topalovic. Mac also competed in a number of events including the U.S selections in Winter Park, North American Cups (NORAMS) in Apex, Canada and Deer Valley, Utah as well as a Rocky Mountain event at Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Mac reflected on this recent experience: "The NORAMS were really fun and challenging. It was my second NORAM season and I'm so happy with the results I achieved. I'm super excited for more in the upcoming season."

As recognition for his hard work, Mac has been named in the Australian team to compete at the Junior World Championships, now in Valmalenco, Italy, at the end of March and will fly out to join the team on the 11th March. "Being selected to compete for Australia at the Junior World Champs is an amazing opportunity! I am so incredibly excited and happy that I get to compete at this level and can’t wait to get on the course for training and the actual comp!" said Mac.

Mac is a busy student, also representing JCS in March at the South Coast Sports Association Regional Swimming Championships. Vice Captain of the secondary school, Mac is an active member of our school community. He has long been involved in the SRC, participated in the Lions Youth of the Year Quest, The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award program, been a part of the JCS team at National Snowsports Interschools, plus much more. Supported by JCS’s teachers, Mac does an amazing job to balance his academic studies with his athletic pursuits. He embodies our school motto values of ‘leadership’, ‘citizenship’, embracing every learning opportunity the school has to offer. While already showing signs of a promising career as a professional athlete, Mac understands the value of his education and hopes to study Sports Science, Pyhsiotherapy or something similar at university after graduating from JCS at the end of the year.

Mac’s dedication and hard work is an inspiration to us all. We wish Mac all the best for the Junior World Championships!
