During the visit, the students were shown various types of equipment used by Essential Energy and got a chance to explore the vehicles used in their operations. The team at Essential Energy also provided an overview of what it's like to work for the company, giving the students a clear picture of the potential career paths available to them.
The visit proved to be a hands-on experience for the students, who thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the Essential Energy crew. Bailey, a student in Year 10, expressed their excitement about the visit, stating, "I loved the hands-on part of the visit and meeting the Essential Energy crew." Year 11 student, Arlo, also reflected on the excursion, "I enjoyed putting the harness on and seeing the equipment Essential Energy uses. Thanks to Steve and his team for allowing us to visit.”
This visit was a follow-up to a previous visit to JCS by the Essential Energy team. Year 10, 11, and 12 students had the opportunity to learn about the recruitment opportunities for 2024. Steve and his team shared valuable information about Essential Energy's community involvement, various job roles, apprenticeships, and work experience opportunities. Tegan Molloy, a member of the team, highlighted the significant contributions made by women in the industry, encouraging female students to consider careers in this field.
The informative session was attended by 51 enthusiastic students, who left with a better understanding of the industry and potential career paths. The JCS Careers Department, responsible for organising this fantastic career initiative, expressed their gratitude to Essential Energy - Jindabyne for their valuable time and support.
With the Essential Energy 2024 recruitment opening in July, this visit served as a lead-in to the upcoming opportunities for the students. The visit not only provided them with valuable insights but also sparked their interest in pursuing careers in the energy industry. Overall, it was a successful and rewarding experience for all involved.
