In April 2017, a team of students and teachers volunteered with Projects Abroad on a community and civics experience in Samoa.
During a 10 day stay, the JCS team worked on a Jungle regeneration project, repainted school buildings and assisted on a health and nutrition camp in a rural village. JCS students love being outdoors so running a sports day for local children with the Samoan Rugby Academy was also a great success.
Volunteering on an overseas community and civics volunteer project proved to be an incredible experience aimed at developing a global citizenship volunteer experience, building student leadership and facilitating intercultural understanding of diversity and difference.
Based on the success of the Samoa Project, JCS aim to offer this experience as a biennial excursion for students 16yrs and over and are currently planning the next excursion.
