Torah from Year 10 Embarks on an Exciting Journey with the NSW Public Schools State Dance Ensemble

Torah st State Drama Ensemble

Jindabyne Central School is thrilled to announce that Torah de Groote, a talented Year 10 student, has been selected to join the esteemed NSW Public Schools State Dance Ensemble for 2023. Torah's journey began on Monday, May 22, as she travelled to the Sydney Dance Company studios at Dawes Point, Sydney, for a two-day dance workshop and the first rehearsal of the ensemble.

Earlier this year, Torah auditioned for a coveted spot in the ensemble and impressed the judges with her skills and passion for dance. The NSW Public Schools State Dance Ensemble, a prestigious dance program organised by the NSW Department of Education - The Arts Unit, provides a platform for public school students from Years 4 to 12, to rehearse and perform alongside their peers who possess a high level of technical proficiency.

The main objective of the ensemble is to expand and enhance students' dance experiences by exposing them to various dance styles and teaching approaches. Torah will have the privilege of working closely with a team of experienced tutors from professional and dance education backgrounds. These mentors will guide and nurture the ensemble dancers, fostering their growth in dance technique, performance, and composition. Collaborating with like-minded students, Torah will train and rehearse dance works in preparation for two major performances: the State Dance Festival in September and the Schools Spectacular in November.

Not only will Torah develop her dance skills, but she will also acquire valuable personal qualities such as leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. As an ensemble dancer, Torah will serve as a role model for aspiring dance students at Jindabyne Central School and will represent her school with pride.

Torah is deeply honoured to have been selected to represent Jindabyne Central School in the NSW Public Schools Dance Ensemble. Her family expresses their gratitude to Principal Mrs. Henretty and the school community for their support. Jindabyne Central School takes immense pride in Torah's outstanding achievement and wishes her a rewarding and memorable journey with the ensemble.
